Some cool things I noticed from watching this video like 50 times ....
1. Harriman is a beast. He went from middle/back of the pack to a dominating first at the exchange and really set the stage for a Pennsbury team that, if weather had been better, would have been remembered as a very surprisingly strong 4x8 squad. Harriman came to play big time on the relay both indoors and outdoors in 2013.
2. John Lewis runs a dominating 2nd leg out there. He really set up Cheltenham nicely for a stretch run. His leg was clearly the best #2 leg. Worth noting is that Sam Webb had a pretty nice double in there considering he had just run the 3200. No joke of a double.
3. The third leg had a lot of big time performances. Coburn was absolutely huge in getting his team back in the race. That was clutch. By the same token, Cox-Finn had a monster split of his own out front to really set Francis up with a cushion (which he ended up not really needing). Running well in the front at any point was going to be a huge problem in that weather, but the Bensalem boys delivered. Caldwell also had a pretty strong leg on the 3rd slot, a strategy which I commended when it first happened as a genius move. It set them up perfectly to finish in the top 5. They outstrategized some better teams perhaps that day.
4. Kyle Francis dominated this anchor leg. Dominated. 1:51 split on that day when nobody could really do much is unreal, and he did it unchallenged out front. It's that kind of mark that makes his 1:50 from indoors seem like it was a long time coming. There were some really compelling anchor legs on this leg. DT East ran a very tactically sound leg. McLaughlin let the others go out way to hard and chewed them all back up on the final straightaway. Monster kick. Red Lion's anchor (Caleb Gatchell I think?) also had a nice kick on the final straight.
Send in splits if you got them! I'll probably be working on 2012 next
