    1. Looks like Pennsbury and Council Rock South

In terms of the mile, I'd say Hoey and Affolder are the favorites. I guess Hengst is still running, though there's still some controversy over that whole situation. The big out of state names are Mason Gatewood and Scott Thompson. I'll go with:

      1. Hoey- 4:10
      2. Affolder- 4:10
      3. Gatewood- 4:12
      5. Hengst- 4:14
      8. Conway- 4:16

  2. 800 is so open. There's honestly 5 guys I have in mind that can contend for the title. I'll leave those names to the guesses of the reader. I think if Josh Hoey actually runs an 800, he'll most likely scratch. However, although he's a tier above everyone else, I think if he's doubling or tripling, some of these guys might have the closing speed to take him down.

Mile is also crazy. My guess is Rusty will scratch. Conway seems like the favorite. So hard to determine with Josh's event choices being up in the air. Again, if Josh is doubling or tripling, I think Conway has the potential to take him down with his closing speed. I'd watch for Baublitz and Wirth as the big boy names to try and pull an upset. I don't think Eissler will run, and while Smucker is a heck of a talent, I just don't see him coming away with this one.

3k is crazy in terms of depth. But, I don't see anyone beating Rusty. And I really don't see anyone beating Brendan Miller. I see a 1-2 finish for these guys separated by about 6-7 seconds, with the western guys like Beveridge and Snodgrass fighting for 3rd. Don't sleep on Jason Corneilson. If I had to go for an upset pick, I'd go Mitchell Etter. Dude is incredibly underrated. Be interesting to see if Smucker chooses to run this.

4x8 is weird. I think Shanahan can win any relay they want to. Pennsbury is very good. Ephrata and CBW are my two teams I expect top see towards the front. But I think Shanahan takes this one. Its the first distance event of the day and I have a feeling they'll start off the day with this one and pick up an early win.

DMR is the same thing. As good as Seneca Valley is, if Shanahan chooses to stack it, they won't lose. With or without Dalton. Some people don't know that when Shanny ran low 10:20's, they ran with Josh on the 8 and Yoquinto on the 1600, which really hurt their time. However, if they think they can win with that, it'd be really cool to watch Yoquinto try and hold on against a hard charging Ketler. Despite CBW's 10:29, I just see these two teams as separated from the rest of the field.

  3. Didn't Josh Hoey just break the state record in the mile at Milrose? after a slow first quarter he closed in 3:01, 1:58 and 58.

    1. I believe he did. Insane run. I really wanna see him do what Brody Hasty is doing and hop in a fast mile with college guys/pros. Maybe not indoors, but at some point I can see him snagging the overall state mile record. 4:03 is possible for this kid.

Somewhat related: what is the fastest 1200 split ever by a PA guy? (Looking at you Etrain!) Ned Willig was pretty quick back in the day, but I think he was "only" a shade under 3:00. I bet Hoey can go 2:55 if needed, and I doubt anyone in the country can match that.

    2. Kevin James from O'Hara used to be down around 3:03 or so, and Sam Affolder was 3:02 but I think you're correct and Willig was either right at 3:00/3:01 or just under it once. It's such an odd distance and usually a team will have their best stick run the 1600.

  4. If that Dalton dude goes to Shanahan they can win indoor states no problem.

    1. Also, Carlos Schultz ran for Shanahan earlier tonight at the Armory.

    2. Imagine having the 2nd best XC sophomore in the state transfer to your school and being like "Yeah, you're not good enough to run on our DMR."

    3. Not a fan of what is going on at Shanahan. It's one thing for the Hoey's to transfer during the summer, but I can't support guys hopping on right in the middle of the season. There shouldn't be free agency in high school sports.

    4. It's not a fair playing field with public schools, they should be out of the PIAA

    5. So this would be Schultz's 3rd school in less than 2 years?

    6. Yup. Josh Hoey did the same thing, it didn't seem to impact his running.

  6. According to LetsRun, Dalton is no longer transferring to Shanahan. Not sure how true that statement is.
