Halfway Point: Who You Got?

So I will get around to some good old fashioned weekend recapping (been a lazy weekend, I'll be honest), but for now I'm curious about hearing from you.

I'm not sure if it's actually halfway (I'm guessing no), but let's get your thoughts anyway. Who is gonna win states? Five distance events, lots of compelling battles (check out the crazy close results of the poll).

Lay it down people. Let me know who ya got. In the mean time I'll write stuff, make lists, listen to drake and watch New Girl.

Peace.

PS I didn't want to move this discussion from the top of the blog, but we have some new content worth mentioning ....

  1. Mikey mike kolor is supposedly trippling in the 3k,800, and mile. Just reports though, can't quite be confirmed yet. 400 at outdoor states is in the works though.

  5. GFS DMR, Wisner 800, Peretta Mile, Hockenbury 3k, SC 4x8 ... In other news, cut offs right now are already projected to be like 2:01 and 4:32 for states without the west coast meets. How fast do you think it will take to make it in by season's end?

  6. Just saw your updated Indoor standings. For the 3000; check results from Kent State meet on 1/23. Ben Bumgarner won 3200 with a 9:42. Should convert to a 9:04 something, I think.

  9. Interesting that so many people have DT West running the DMR, still no signs of them chasing either relay and no signs of Barton racing. They may be trying to maximize points in other ways at states

  10. I attended last year's indoor states and witnessed some incredible races with a stacked 800m, an incredible mile, 4x800, and a great 3200 finish. How do you think this year's indoor state meet will compare...if it can?

    1. 800 won't be matched to last years, Hoey or Dahl could replicate Ritz's time if they were fresh in the right race, 4x8 is deeper but won't see a studly team like Pennsbury's. DMR probably won't be a landslide like it ended up being for O'hara last year. Same thing will happen this year as last year in the 3k, Hock will be the halfway hero, realize he's not in AA, and get hawked by someone before the race is over (little rough I know but thats really my honest opinion on that situation)

    2. 800 is still pretty loaded. Wisner has been pretty quiet this season, but he's gotta be gunning for the gold, but there are still a bunch of other guys like Jaxson and Desko still in the mix.

  12. In honor of the halfway (sorta kinda maybe) mark of the indoor season, here are what my bold predictions, whats disappointed me so far, and whats really surprised me.

    Bold predictions:
Desko will win an indoor state gold.
The indoor mile state champion will see a time on the clock at 4:07.87
The blog will catch wind and explode and hit 1 mill views faster than anyone thought

    Disappointments:
I'm really getting antsy about DTW relay situation. I wanna see where Barton is, and what they could drop in both the 4x8 and the DMR.

I'm having general frustration with the PAC league. I know they're young, but I feel like Spring ford has much more potential in terms of relays then what they've shown. I don't know if they're saving anything up, but as of right now, a little disappointed (big fan of the team though). I really wish we got to see the Phoenixville duo in the indoor scene. McGinnis was a baller on the trails this fall and he was a 1:58ish guy last year in the spring. Smiley also broke out real nicely.
Lastly, I'm still waiting on DMR's from Perk valley and OJR. With Town on the 12 and Montgomery on the mile and the Conway bro's holding down their relay, those are two I think could break out.

    Surprise:
Not so much a surprise that Kelly is pulling the stud out of an unknown, but if you don't know who Josh Richard from Henderson is yet, you will know soon.
When you think Lasalle, you think depth, but good god the sheer amount of guys they have that are running well on that team is ridiculous. I would LOVE to see a workout day for that team.
Last but not least, Abington. This team has truly separated themselves from the rest of state, but they've dropped state-leading times and I don't think we've seen the best of them yet. I'm also very curious to see what their 400 star Isaiah Smith could run in the 800 (2:06 indoor last year).

Its been a very interesting season as of so far,

and we're only halfway done. Enjoy part 2 ladies and gentleman, because PA just keeps grindin.
