DTW vs Coatesville

Head on over to LXV+ to check out the results from the DTW vs Coatesville dual meet that Coach Scott Burns was nice enough to send our way.

Interesting to note that Josh upset his older brother in both events that the two contested, the 400 and 800. Is this a sign of Jaxson being in heavier training, not in full health, or is Josh truly proving that he could already be better than his older brother? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below

P.S. We have more writers with moderator permissions, so we can check comments a lot quicker than just Jarrett can with his adult life in the way. Comment away and we'll do our best to keep the discussion lively, as it is truly the best part of this blog.

Stay Awesome,

  1. Jaxson is a great runner, but it's tough not to argue that Josh will be better if not already. Josh's times are amazing for a sophomore. I will be fun to watch the 6 strong sophomores from district 1 compete the next two and half years.

At XC PIAA state, Hoey, Smucker, Conway, Kujdych were all in the top twelve as sophomores, all from district 1. Conway is already having a strong track season, as is Kujdych. All Smucker did was run the fastest time ever by sophomore at Poop-out hill in Hershey other than Josh Hoey, and it was met with a collective yawn; with Conway and Kujdych within 8 seconds of Smucker.

Throw in some tough 800 runners in Yoquinto and Jihad, and district 1 sophomores again look tough.

    Good stuff

  3. Original hand written results, that's awesome!

I wouldn't make too much out of Hoey results in a dual meet.

  4. I have to think something is up with Jaxson though I am sure Josh will eventually be beating his brother. Jaxson ran poorly in his leg of the relay at NB Indoor Nationals. Thought he was saving it for the mile but he scratched that event. Then at the Raleigh Relays he came in last place (11th) at 4:25-4:28ish, can't recall the time and too lazy to look it up. Injury or overtraining?

    1. 4:25.47 was the exact time. Tough to really diagnose his situation. He seemed to be dealing with health at the end of cross country, then had a great indoor season, and struggled through indoor nationals as well. Perhaps it is health, nerves, stress, or a plethora of other factors bothering him.

    2. There are some funky respiratory viruses going around now, taking a week or more to get past. It wouldn't surprise me if a few runners have gotten hammered by it.

    3. Although this is very true, its pretty evident its not that. This "lull" has been from NBIN until recently. Same thing happened at the end of XC. Worries me about how fragile JAx Hoey might be going into PSU next year.
