There's no way. Their 2:12 leadoff was probably faster than that. Idk. There has to be some explanation though, 10 second PRs don't happen at that level.
Anyway, this post will get less attention because it's a reply, but my picks are that Hunter goes ape and drops a 4:04, Ritz runs 4:09, KJ is top PA guy in 3k in 8:25, Comber is 2nd about 5 seconds back, Ostberg wins around 8:12. PB 4x8 runs 7:48 FTW, GFS top DMR (best 1200 leg) but all the PA teams are towards the back.
Oh yeah, Jaxson Hoey split 1:54. Look for him to run about 4:07 this spring.
According to Wissahickon's track website, he ran 49.xx for the 4x400 this year so its somewhat possible. I would love for it to be true, fireworks would fly at states with our deep 800 field this year.
Johnson is very good, I believe he split 1:57.0 this year earlier, but I'm fairly sure that he didn't run 1:49. He had a good split though as far as I could tell he really got them in the mix but the weather here isn't ideal for splitting something like that. Jax went out like a rocket the first 200m as well, if evens that out he should be able to run a nice 8. He ran gutsy though on the anchor, almost snuck them into the COA
Yeah, ok, that's about it. If you could poll most PA guys they'd probably say they were a little disappointed. The performance of the day was probably Brophy, though Ritz was solid and Wills from MP was really good, Hoey bouncing back nicely too.
I would like to hear your commentary on the 4xmile. what do you think oregons plan was going in to the race? what do you think about the slow down of pace? what do you think the coach said afterwards?
personally I am happy that cheserek was out sprinted. If he ran an honest race I think the collegiate record was in play.
I made a post about this just now in the NCAA section, not sure if you were talking to me, Zat or the group at large, but couldn't resist getting involved ...
Check out the boys 4x8 large school results. WIssahickon's Kyuande Johnson just split 1:49.7! The dude has a 1:59 pr on penntrack. Unreal

ReplyDeleteJust got changed to 1:58 on the results list.
ReplyDeleteKind of a disappointing day for PA, other than Brophy.
ReplyDelete3 teams in the COA 4x8
DeleteBrophy 8:29 on the double
Ritz 4:09...
I'd call that ok.

Delete^ Lewis......
DeleteLewis was an absolute monster. Favorite PA athlete
Delete3 teams to the 4x8 was pretty impressive, especially in the weather those were some solid splits
ReplyDeletePenn Relays, ehhh, the Henderson 2 mile is this week. It should be outstanding as usual, with sub 9:00 always in play.

thanks
personally, I think ches just ran a dumb race. he got too cocky and slowed the pace down to a walk, and nova saw the opportunity and took it.
