What's there to like and look for going into districts and states? Should I write some district previews? If so, which districts are you most interested in reading about? (Feel free to say all I'm prepared for that) What should be the next picture for the blog?
And of course, feel free to discuss the league meet action around the state.
Talk to you kids after the weekend is over. As always, stay classy

Joe Maguire ran an impressive 4:23/9:35 double at the SOL National meet
ReplyDeleteAnything happened at public league and catholic league champs?
ReplyDeleteBilly McDevitt quadrupled at Inter-Ac's. 4:26, 1:57, 9:46 and a 4x4 split that was probably sub 55. Machine.
ReplyDeleteBrehm was 1:55ish/4:17/1:54/51ish in the heat at mid penn
ReplyDeleteBrehm always seems to tune it up at the right time, but he really hasn't gotten any better since he was a sophomore. No state gold this year.
DeleteI wouldn't necessarily agree. The important thing is that he's won his last 3 1600s (Ship, Stan Morgan, Mid-Penns) and is getting faster on both ends of the 800 double. We don't know if these races have been tactical or aggressive, and I think that Brehm is like Grant Fisher in that he doesn't really chase times, but rather kicks for the win. The fact that he has been winning indicates that he can probably run faster if he lines up against better competition. It's maybe not the best year for D3, but I think that Sponaugle and Shinn will push him to run around 4:12-14 at Districts (with maybe a 1:53 as well). Then the state race is anyone's game, but don't count him out. I think he'll still break 4:10 or run an equivalent mile/1500 when all is said and done.
DeleteBrehm got 2nd at Ship
DeleteDude just went 1:53 on the double. He'll take the states 1600 again and then take down Ritz at the Henderson meet of champs, after which he'll thank him for keeping the mile popular over the winter.
DeleteRitz ran 3:47 for the 1500 at a college meet tonight. No way he loses to Brehm, but maybe he pushes him to finally break that 4:07 from 2013
DeleteStarting to get the feeling that Ritz won't even want to run PA meet of champs and will just jump straight to the elite race. It's a real shame because that race would be unreal for PA
DeleteWhat meet was this at?
DeletePaul Power went 9:41 32 on Friday, then ran a 1:54 4x8 split/ 4:13 16/ 1:57 open 8 on Saturday
ReplyDeletePower is really having a strong season.
DeleteKevin James looked really good at pcl's won the mile in 4:20 going 2:15, 2:05 and looked so easy and then looked really easy in the 800 winning in 1:56. The lasalle boys plus daly also had some good days in some big negative splitting races.
ReplyDeleteGovernor Mifflin went 3:22.22 today...which begs the question: do you believe in the power of the skinny white distance runner 4x4?
ReplyDeleteI believe it is known as the D saqud 4x4 and yes I believe.
DeletePennTrack burns me every time. They put a headline up, "Lewis with two PA #1's", but when we click on it we have to scroll through a million tweets to try to find out what they're talking about. It happens all the time. I gave up, I'll just find out when it propagates through the system and he's on the new top rankings.
ReplyDeleteDistrict 1 Preview
ReplyDeleteD1 will be tough to predict who's running what, let alone who the winners will be.
DeleteMatthew Maton for the next picture for the blog
I'd still be interested in your thoughts on who escapes the asylum of D1.
DeleteI'm interested in a District 3 preview
ReplyDeleteNathan Henderson double gold Lancaster Lebanon League. 4:20.7 / 9:30.
ReplyDeleteDistrict 3 and district 6 would be great!

DeleteWhy does everyone hate the WPIAL?
ReplyDeleteWho?
DeleteI am assuming that you are referring to the fact that no one talks about the wpial. Its not that people hate it, it's the fact that the majority of people who read this blog are from the eastern half of the state, because that is where etrain is from, and Zatlin, RTJ (demarius from Great Valley), Forrest And cummings. Also RJJL of you believe the conspiracy that he is assistant coach Bill Lott from Henderson. The vast majority of people that read this blog don't know anything about the wpial and the rest of the western part of the state in terms of running, so they are not going to go out of their way and dig through results of every race to try figure it out. It is easier to figure out who is good near where you live because you run at the meets and see all the athletes near you and see how they run. Since a lot of people who read this blog are in the east, someone can talk about almost every meet in the east, so each person adds a little tidbit in the comments about each meet. While the low number of western people that read the blog can't get to every meet and provide coverage, besides Evan who can only be in one place at once.
DeleteI'm finishing up my WPIAL post when I get home from work this afternoon
DeleteDistrict 9 preview would be interesting. Boys AA 1600, 800, and 3200 should all be great races. Plus some great sprints. Thrush from brookville recently ran 1:57 and also split 49.6 on a 4x400 so he has the wheels to do some damage in the 8,16.
