Sign ups are now officially open for the 2017 XC Fantasy Draft. We are playing with the same rules and regulations as year's past (I think I've done this every year dating back to 2011) and I, personally, think it's a lot of fun. Some of you may be new to the blog, so I'll take a moment to reiterate the rules.
- Each team makes seven picks, similar to a varsity cross country team.
Picks will be made in the order above in snake draft format. This means that
Team 1 will have the last pick in the first round and the first pick in the
second round. Once a runner is drafted, no one else can pick this runner.
- Only runners in the AAA boys state championship can be drafted. Runners are
scored based on their place in the state meet. For example, if you drafted
Colton Cassell last year and he finished 24th, he scores 24 points for your
team. The places for your highest finishing five runners are added together to
give yourself a team score, again similar to a varsity cross country team. The
lowest score wins.
Those are the basics. For those competing in the draft, there will be rules like time limits, autodrafting, etc.
Just as we did last year, the draft will be done completely on the blog. It will happen on Wednesday night (11/1) starting at 7:30 PM (draft took about 1.5 hours last time). We have one team signed up already (my own team, Views from the 7, will be back). The defending champion is Ryan1220. John Seena won in 2015. Views from the 7 is on a drought since 2014.
Because it's on the blog, that means you can sign up anonymously. All you need is a code name. So comment here, send me an email (jarrettfelix1130@gmail.com), use the facebook, shoot me a twitter message or, the easiest option, yell really, really (really) loud and we will slot you into the draft. Deadline for sign up will be 10/31 at 10 PM.
All the best.
You really outdid yourself with those district previews across the state. For D1 AAA, it looked like you got 40 out of 50 in the D1 individuals. One of your commenters predicted the team race very well. Another commenter had an accurate observation on the Rusty/Hoey battle but then he took down the post, but essentially it said Rusty ran a flat course and a pace through two miles that played into Hoey's strength's but he still managed to hold off a 1:49 800 speedster. I'm looking forward to the states discussions.
