The Chesmont XC Championships are rapidly approaching and here at the blog we will be hoping to provide everything a fan needs to be ready on race day.

Monday, October 12th 2015, one of the best leagues in the state will gather for their championship meet. Early speculation is that the course will be fast. And we know the storylines will be fun to follow. The Chesmont features some of the most passionate runners in the district, as exhibited by the content of many of the comments on this site (not to mention the fact that two of my writers hail from the Chesmont as well as RTJ, Chris Cummings and possibly RJJL).

Let's start with a quick outline of the meet schedule:
Varsity Boys- 9:30
Varsity Girls- 10:15
Junior Varsity Boys- 11:00
Junior Varsity Girls- 11:45

To get all the live updates and results check this link: http://www.runccrs.com/ches-mont-cross-country-championship-101215/. It's the place to go for any XC nerd like myself looking for more info on the meet.

This is the same site that provided quick access to results for the recent Carlisle Invitational (and I have to admit their results format is in top 2 favorite results formats alongside runhigh).

For those of you who use Twitter (I've heard all the kids are doing it these days) you can follow along with all the action @runccrs. They plan to share splits at one mile and two miles, including team standing information.

A preview will be coming soon for this meet, but I'd like to make sure I can do it justice rather than the usual, wing it while I'm on the train. So stay on the lookout for more fun Chesmont stuff.

  1. Once Unionville Boys hit their taper, all bets are off. They will start to drop large amounts of time, especially on the faster championship courses. The way I crunch the numbers, we will be looking at 4-5 guys under 16;30. WCH and CB West could find themselves on the couch come November

    1. Hahahahahahahahaha comments like these make my day. I'm really hoping this is a troll, because I mean cmon now, they've got one guy under 17, well, 18 that is, and they've gotten smacked my WCH at Oberdod and GV in a dual meet. DTW and WCH are the only teams making to states out of this league (except maybe Shanahan in AA)

    2. RGGL has made some great predictions over the years, look for this to happen. Unionville to upset DWT for state champions!

    3. Lets not forget that Unionville is running on their home turf.

    4. Where is RJJL with his actual predictions though? I want to see them. You have less than 3 days RJJL.

  2. Are you going to do a preview for Manhattan? It looks like a crap ton of talent and might be the only race DT West loses this year.

    1. WCE is at least 3rd and maybe higher.

    2. ^No, WCE at 3rd is a solid choice.

    3. WCE higher than 3rd? Is that a joke?

    4. There has maybe been one serious comment on this entire post so I wouldn't go too crazy. I'll leave it all for now, but if it gets out of hand I'll have to step in

  4. Unfortunately theres been no serious discussion, so I'll try and start that off as best I can. My predictions are based off the idea that everyone is running their full squads at full strength (which there is a high possibility that won't be the case).

    3- Henry Sappey
    4- Kent Hall

    1. How is Logan Yoquinto from Shanahan going to be 22nd? he ran 18:09 at Paul Short and his best is 17:28 for the season, you have him as their 3, when he should be their 5 or 6.

      Delete
    2. He was their #1 against Henderson in one of the team's last dual meets before Paul Short. Might have just had an off day at PS

    3. OK I didn't see that result since it wasn't on penntrack, but I found it on Runccrs.com. Oakbourne is a fairly hilly course so 17:15 there is solid. This was before Paul short so maybe he was sick or something for Paul Short and had a bad day, or he has an injury, if anyone can comment on that it would be good to know for predictions.

    4. Here is a serious top 10

      1 - Josh Hoey
      2 - Henry Sappey
      3 - Spencer Smucker
      4 - Kent Hall
      5 - Jake Ilgenfritz
      6 - Jack Carmody
      7 - Ryan Barton
      8 - Austin Maxwell
      9 - Carson Reuther
      10 - Brandon Hontz

    5. Who is Cinder Miller and how do you know that Jaxson is not running on Monday?

      Delete
    6. The bigger question is why did you think he was running at Chesmonts?

      Delete
  5. WCE vs Bishop S should be interesting. Bishop has better 2-4 runners, but their number 5 is way back.

    1. WCE and BS will be determined by how well BS's 5th guy runs, the #2 WCE runner vs the #3 BS runner and how far Moser is ahead of the BS pack. But mostly the BS #5 guy. Moser should be in front of the BS pack, then BS has their 1-2 and maybe 3 in before WCE #2. BS has their 4 after the WCE #2, then WCE puts 3-4-5-6 in front of the BS #5.

A dual meet between the 2 would look like this:
      1.WCE
      2.BS
      3.BS
      4.BS
      5.WCE
      6.BS
      7.WCE
      8.WCE
      9.WCE
      10.WCE
      11. BS

      BS 26
      WCE 30

      Delete
    2. The question is how many runners from other teams finish between WCE #5 and BS #5.

      Delete
    3. ^Thats what I mean, how far back will the BS #5 guy be in the race.

      Delete
    4. In the ACTUAL dual meet it was
      1. WCE
      2. WCE
      3. WCE
      4. WCE
      5. WCE
      6. BS
      7. ect

      Delete
    5. Dual meet was actually:
      1. WCE
      2. WCE
      3. WCE
      4. WCE
      5. BS
      6. BS
      7. WCE
But, after WCE had 4 guys in front of Shanahan's top guy in that meet I think it is a little off to say that Shanahan will definitely have 2-3 guys in front of WCE's #2 guy and in front of WCE's pack behind Moser.

    6. I was referring mainly to the Paul Short results, and if you compare the times and add in a healthy Moser for WCE, the teams stack up very evenly. They both ran the same course on the same day and a bigger invitational setting is a better measuring stick than a dual meet. I think BS has improved greatly since the dual meet.

  6. Is DTW going to race all their top guys at Chesmonts? I can't imagine they will after Manhattan, but there is also 3 weeks until districts, so I'm not sure.

  7. You know, I noticed that in addition to Josh and Jaxson having big races at Manhattan, their brother Jonah won the middle school race. The whole freaking family our like genetically engineers beasts and it is making me feel insecure. (I also liked how their names start with J, very clever)

    1. They're real good, but not great. 4:13 milers come and go in PA every year

      Delete
    2. Guys that go 4:10/4:17 as junior/freshman brothers are a step up from 4:13 milers, and are pushing into all-time great status.

When their dad was a semi-elite collegiate mid-distance runner and the mom a semi-elite marathoner, no wonder they're all fast.

P.S Josh and Jonah go by nicknames, because Francis and Frederick aren't as cool sounding.

    3. Brophy is still gonna wreak the Hoey brothers this season.
