In XC the past few years, I’ve provided a full breakdown of
every district with my picks for who is going to qualify for states. During the
indoor season, I keep a running list of the top times in the state with a
tracker of how the cutoffs are projecting. So I think it only makes sense that
this year I try and break down every single district for track and field with
some state qualifying picks and previews (for the distance events only, sorry
to my non-distance fans). Because of my plan, I won’t be explicitly recapping all
the league meet action, but those results will be rolled into some of the preview
content. Feel free to play along at home with your own picks!

I would sponsor and run in an Etrain mile if someone would put it on.
ReplyDeleteIf Shanahan doesn't run Hoey, North Allegheny is going to win the team title at States. At WPIALs they won both hurdle events, the pole vault, the long jump, and the 4x4. McGoey ran a strong 3200m to place second and Elhing barely qualified in the 4x800 and the open 8. Realistically everyone I mentioned will medal but I'm not so sure about the 4x800 or Elhling Donovan Rice placed 3rd in the low hurdles so I think that he could make the finals. Obviously 3 of those wins came from Owens and I hear that he split 47 on the relay. But McGoey and even their pole vaulter could make something happen at the states biggest stage.
ReplyDeleteD1 kind of unimpressive today, not nearly as many qualifiers as they usually send each year.
ReplyDeleteWith the rain, the cold, and puddles all over the track, times were much slower than normal. So of course there were not as many qualifiers as usual. With a dry track, there would have been 8 from each event.
DeleteSlow 1600/3200 times heading into States.
